Project Overview

In 2019, SIIK received its first CSR project from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), marking a significant milestone in its mission to empower women through skill development. A free one-year Sewing & Tailoring Training Program was launched for 50 economically weaker women in the Lichu Bagan community, with active support from Howrah City Police.

The project was inaugurated at Sarat Sadan Auditorium Hall, Howrah, in the presence of Shri Prasun Banerjee (Hon’ble MP, Howrah), Dr. Rathin Chakraborty (Hon’ble Mayor, Howrah), and Shri Gourav Sharma, IPS (Commissioner of Police, Howrah City).

Impact

  • 50 women trained in sewing and tailoring.
  • 5 Several started home-based tailoring work or joined local boutiques.
  • Improved livelihood and financial independence for women.
  • Strengthened collaboration between SIIK, BPCL, and Howrah City Police.

Conclusion

This project marked the beginning of SIIK’s CSR journey and showcased how partnerships between corporates, NGOs, and law enforcement can drive real social impact through women empowerment and skill-based education.
